The best $20 you ever spent on your bike ....

What is the best $20 or less purchase you have made for your bicycle that made the biggest positive change in your life? Brake pads? Some magical grease or lube? Some little ergo farkle that made things fit better? The best biking socks ever?

Cmon folks, spill the beans.. share the low budget items that have really made your life better.

For me so far the cheap improvement item is a pair of $10 headlights from dinodirect.com that are actually useable for urban commuting and double as daytime white blinkers.

These: https://www.amazon.com/Origin8-Pro-Pu...9132780&sr=8-1

$12

They give me 2 new places to put my hands on long trips, and for some reason I cannot explain, when I grab onto them I am able to pedal harder for longer. Must be a more comfortable position or something. I'm not sure but holy jesus I love them with all my heart and soul. Plus they look cool. Not that I care about looking cool, but they do. And they also contributed to my bikes name, "Raging Bull". The official color of the bike is called "Raging Red", and since they look like bull horns, I combined the two, and voila, my bike now has a name. Heh.

koolStop salmon pads for Shimano cartridges. $10 per set. These have improved the braking of even sub-par 1980s side-pull brake calipers. Great on dual-pivot calipers.

The Serius balaclava I bought years ago. It's really thin and light, but extremely warm.

Plain black kneewarmers from Nashbar. I think they were about $20 about 10 years ago. Still wear them all the time.

I bought a hybrid bike this year and coming from a mountain bike with shocks on the fork, I quickly got numb hands. I bought myself some cycling gloves and not only are my hands not numb, they have saved me from road rash a few times. I plan on buying a Real Road Bike later this year.

Ergon style grips. The wider palm area is really relaxing while riding.Hard to beat when you add bar ends.

$20 for Koolstop salmon pads on canti brakes. Old pads squealed like Ned Beatty on a canoe trip. New pads perfect!

Pretty happy with my bell, I think I paid ~$5. Looks like I'll be happy with my Koolstops when I get around to that purchase.
