90s? Colnago and campy help please
This thing reminds me how very little I know of post nuovo and super record campy parts, and everything Colnago. Everything looks the same to me, except for the delta brakes. Here are my guesses, please set me straight!
Frame = ~1989-90 sprint?
Hubs = 8 speed athena?
Crank = athena?
Headset = athena?
Shifters = record?
brakes = c-record?
Derailleurs = athena?
Thanks!

Nice find. My guesses: The frame looks like a Super or it's more modern equivalent - Sprint as you state. The brake system (1991?) looks to be C-Record and the gear system looks to be Athena. Hubs look Athena to me too - interesting spoke pattern.
Its a nice little road bike.

I would like to say that I like 'm that way - small frame and a little rough - but people may take it the wrong way . Awesome find. I think that your assumption about the parts is right, but sometimes it's hard to say. Luckily velobase has some side by side shots for comparison on most campy items.

Thanks - I just confirmed the "Sprint", it's stamped on the top of the bottom bracket. Not sure of the year but it's a pre-straight fork Colnago.
The headset may be Athena, but it's inscribed w/ colnago, pretty cool!

Crank is C'dA or later Chorus (same part used for different years), athena crank had plastic dustcaps instead of self-extractors. I wouldnt be suprized if the rear derailler were chorus or something nicer than athena. (Athena had some heavy stamped steel parts, chorus all alloy).
The ergo shifters were not introduced until 1992, only 1 model of brifters was used for all groups early on so fair to call them record if you want.
It does not make sense that they would have spent the big $$ on the delta brakes (but not also the stunning c-rec crank) for an otherwise chorus/athena bike if this were all orginal. I would suspect that the frame and a few of the C-record parts are original to the bike from the late 80's and that it was later updated with ergo shifter drivetrain once those were introduced. (Or else perhaps noth the brakes and crank are original C'dA parts??)>

Well the right shifter body is cracked, and the unit does not operate. Though I suspect the inner workings are still intact. Seatpost size is 27.0. Seller was into triathalons, so I guess the ergo upgrades made sense then.

I would be suprized if this frame were originally a 27.0 seatpost, that implies that it is SP thickness tubing (0.7mm wall seattube) which is unusual for such a small frame. That seatpost is definitly not original, I would not be suprized if they replaced the original 27.2 post with the ritchy. If you ever want to replace the post, try a 27.2 first. The correct size is less suseptible to causing cracking of the lug.

Lots of mis-information in this thread, as regards to the level of Campy on the bike. There appears to be a mish mash of component levels. The brake calipers are Record, the RD is Chorus, impossible to tell the crankset from the pictures, the hubs are a lower level, though the front may be Athena, rear definitely lower.
Careful comparison with catalogs and known examples is the only way to know for sure.

What picture of the crankset will help determine? Length is 172.5. I was suprised at the 27.0 seatpost, it didn't pull out easily but I thought it odd it wasn't 27.2.

With the post out, you may find a good bit of rust/corrosion inside the seattube. Degrease and clean all the rust out (rolled up piece of sandpaper) and then pry the clamp ears open a bit if it looks bent together. Then, the 27.0 post will probably feel just a bit loose.

Doesn't seem to be a center raised area on the crank. Left arm reads 8V-1725 then "A2" in a square. So, chorus or athena?

I have an Athena crank w/self extractors. BB length is only way to tell for sure. The parts on this bike are from different eras. The original owner made numerous changes. Measure the BB spindle (assuming it's correct) and that will shed some light.
Definitely Athena:

Nice bike with a interesting of Campagnolo parts.
Brakes are record Delta, Chainset Croce d'aune or 2nd generation Chorus (they are the same). Readderailleur is Athena.
Shifters 1992 Record Ergopower, front derailleur Athena or Chorus.
Rearhub is lower end one, as it seem to have sealed bearings. Font hub maybe Athena.

The headset is looks athena-ish after looking on velobase, but the locknut looks different.

Athena RD had the adjusting screws on "top", Chorus on the "bottom" as shown in the pics.

Can't get a 27.2 seatpost to fit, even after gentle spreading of the tube slot. Is 27.0 a known Sprint size?

Brakes could be C or cros'e whatever model, even the components could be the cros' whatever model too. The main issue is that all campy stuff back around that era bellow C looked exactly the same but with less polishing for example. Besides there are no serial numbers in the parts that is typical from campagnolo too... so pretty much is hard to tell, it could be one or another group.

If it's made with Cromor, I think 27.0 is plausible. Some SL bikes take a 27.0 post as well. Depends on how and whether the seat tube was reamed. I'd go with a 27.0 post on your bike, unless it's slipping.
