Ultra Torque Crank In Swiss Thread Frame?

Hey, I did search, found no glimmer of promise, and am wondering if you will extinguish my hopes entirely.

If you have a frame with Swiss threading in the BB, is there any way to use a Campagnolo Ultra Torque crank?

Received wisdom - Velospace had some clues - Get the BB re-threaded to English. Then you can use an English Ultra Torque BB. LBS or a framebuilder will have the right tools. As an engineer I can rationalise this to be workable (English 1.37" (34.8mm) x 24tpi is not too far different from Swiss 35mm x 1mm (25.4tpi), thanks Sheldon) because not much metal will get removed, BUT I have not done this myself, so maybe someone else will respond to confirm. Some alternatives (sorry for mentioning as I guess you may already know) are Phil Wood BB with Swiss cups OR Velo Orange threadless BB to use with a classic square taper chainset.

If you look at the dimensions, Swiss cups are LARGER in diameter than English cups so even if you could make the thread pitch the same, the English cups will be a very loose fit. I don't think it will work.

The more common way to salvage a damaged or unusual bottom bracket shell is to ream and retap it to Italian (36 mmx24tpi, right hand threads on both sides).

Yep, the English tap would remove metal about every third thread is what I meant. But I can see that Italian would be much better.

Swiss thread typically is 35 by 1 french metric, but right cup is LH thread.
[ref. Sutherlands]
Stick with square taper cranks and Phil has Swiss mounting rings to fit their BB..

Yes but the OP specifically asked about using a Campy Ultra Torque crank and that's a no-go with a Phil bb and Campy doesn't make any Swiss threaded bearing cups for them.

Down to the shop, get out the frame taps , then Take it out to 36mm, Italian ,
as then you might have a better thread condition when you are done,
26tpi is finer than 1 per mm + given BSC, 1.370" is 34.8mm.. ,so smaller..

or just get a frameset that is Italian or BSC thread .. sell the collectable as is..
