"Different" helmet makers.

Was wondering if anyone has seen helmet makers that make different looking helmets. Helmets that look like hats, etc. Thanks for any info.

Looking around for a new helmet an thought I'd try something new. Tired of the "racing" type helmets.

Bern makes nice helmets that are comfy and definitely not race-y looking. I guess I'd define them as "urban" but they look similar to skateboard and ski/snowboard helmets. They're pretty easy to find at a lot of shops. REI and Performance also stock them. Even Bell makes a similar style, but I liked the Bern system a lot more, so that's what I bought as my commuter helmet.

Basic helmet plus a variety of helmet covers that make it look like other than a bike helmet.

There's several manufacturers of helmet covers. But be aware that a cheap helmet + cover can be a heavy & hot combination. No problem for 5 miles, but if you ride all day, you want light and ventilated, not stylish.
