My wife let me design a room around my tommasini

I wanted to keep room warm with a few mechanical touches:

Both the sewing machine and phone are 80-90 years old and from our family's farm. I actually have the warranty for the sewing machine dated December 1924.

Despite the traditional look I wanted room filling music so one end table holds an amp, DVD audio/cd player and a rear firing Polk speaker.

The other has the record player and second speaker.

Coffee pot, espresso maker, and coffee syphon are on a table my grandfather made in his teens.

Close up of bike.

Looks nice. My wife would never go for the bike on the wall.

I'm surprised that the speaker placed so close to the turntable doesn't cause acoustic feedback.

Casey, you sly devil you.

I've been trying this ploy with Mrs. Gomango for 23 married years with zero success.

Well played.

i had a friend who is an audiophile help with the setup. We were both shocked that it worked. I think having the speaker fire out the rear was the key. I was also surprised tat the record players low level output worked with 13 feet of audio cable (to the amp on the other side)

if I turned it up loud it would likely have feedback, but it works well for occasional listening at normal volume.

im not sure what brand the hanger is. I got it second hand and modified it to be closer to the wall. I looked at buying one new, but couldn't find another one that I liked at a reasonable priced that was spaced for 16in studs. There was no way I was relying on anchors for this bike.

This is so cool! Big +1 for the coffee table.

I like the coffee bean bags but I if you want to build that room around your bike it's time to go to ikea and modernize it a bit or if u can get a 1960's masi with dt shifters and nuovo record then u could keep the furniture

I did not make the rack. My dad bought a lot of them on sale about 15 years ago and had this one left. It originally left the bike really far from the wall (clearance for flat bars) so I cut 4in out of it to bring the bike as close to the wall as I can. 42cm drops are about 1.5cm off the wall now. Mountain bikes need not apply.

BTW, nice touches on the room! My dining room has 4 tandems sitting in it but the room isn't designed around it just yet.

Beat me to it.
Now you have a duty to BF C&V to have many, many daughters, all of them, for whom this home decor is absolutely normal and essential.

I think I could get away with a room like that.

Of course, I'd be sleeping and taking my meals there.....

I showed this thread to my wife. I wish there was a way I could describe the noise that she emitted as she rolled her eyes. Suffice to say, I won't be allowed to redecorate anytime within her lifespan.

Nice!

A couple months ago I convinced the wife to let me put two similar racks on the wall near the front door, one above the other. The Tommasini and Guerciotti now hang on the wall in the living room.

Here's the trick: Leave your bike leaning against the wall there after each ride. "I'd put it away in the shed but I'll just be pulling it back out for tomorrow's commute/ride...". I'd put it/them away once in a while but it/they'd be back against the wall in a day or two. After most of spring/early summer with this routine, it just made more sense to her for me to put a couple racks on the wall so they could be out of the way. Helps if they are truly beautiful machines .

Let me know in advance if you can.

Maybe we can hit a cyclocross race.

Will you be ready to pick up the Tommasini?

So... In what way is the room designed around the bike? Looks to me like a basic room with a bike in it. Sorry if that sounds rude.
