If you understand people, you understand C&V
I just watched this video and I not only enjoyed the talk but also got some interesting insights in the mechanisms that make this forum so effective such a pleasant place to be.
To give an example (and a picture with a bike - what's a post without one?): some C&V members from all over the Benelux, who hadn't met before, pictured together just before lunch in France:

I see they're at a pub called The Church. And the bike is an Infidel. Nice.

I'm impressed by that Deschutes brewery jersey. Unique item to see outside the PNW.

There's just one reason why we come together here in C&V:
Who else but us would want to be seen hanging with a bunch of aging beer-swilling OCD-impaired bike hoarders?

Pining for the fjords
I thought we had un understanding here to only post pics that bring people closer to the bike heritage... educate them, amuse them, lure them into it if you will but definetely not scare them off!

I thought that an existential discussion would be enlightening, uplifting and maybe even fun. At least for once. But I see it's not easy to get away from the beer swilling and bike hoarding, even for 20 minutes. *sigh*

Well, I googled that Simon guy and found out he works for the RAND corp, that was certainly enough to scare *me* off. Plus I'm feeling more misanthropic than usual because I was outbid for a 60ies PX10 by 2 euro, last night.

OUCH! By €2! You have my sympathy. I'd love a 60's PX10. The more I learn about bikes, the more I'm beginning to like the French stuff.

So, the premise is that being grumpy, opinionated, beer-swilling and parts-hoarding is a bad thing?
How does that work, again?
