I bought some really nice wheels the last few weeks and will be rearranging some bikes/wheels. Part of this involves getting my C-Rec HF wheels back on the road by putting them on the Rigi.

What I am wondering is since the bike will then be mostly C-Rec should I put a mid '90s Rec crank, sitting on the shelf, on the bike? Or leave well enough alone with the Nuovo Rec crankset? The crank in question is on the Bianchi in the pic.

Is that front wheel radial laced on a sheriff star hub? Don't tell your life insurance agent!

OH NO those are regular Record hubs. CampI USA actually advised me both against radial lacing the C-Rec but also against buying a 28h front hub too.

I think you should use the C-Rec, & sell me the N.R. dirt cheap, since I don't have one yet.

I approve of the beverage choice for the Bianchi.

I say make it match, if you have the parts that's a plus. Now, Sherrif stars would be the cats meow....

Bored and it's too cold outside to ride?!? I was considering a ride this afternoon, but with a rather stiff wind from the North, and LOW TEMPS ( for Florida) I'm NOT going out this afternoon. A MATCHING set is always nicer, but depending on how much extra work you are making for yourself...worth it or NOT?!? Would LOOK nice, and YOU will know it's a matched set....who else will notice (aside from the BIKEFORUMS peanut gallery!) I don't have a full grouppo on ANYTHING I own, except for my FELT with it's Sora....but THAT doesn't count! :-)
Such is life!

Well I dug out the wheels yesterday afternoon, and discovered the axle is bent. No real suprise I think I remember it, and since the wheel was spaced for 8spd no wonder its bent. I have a spare a huge 146 that I need to cut but now that is a quandry.

The catalog 18bis does not give and axle lenght, velobase says it is spaced for 126, and the C-Rec handout says it is available for 6 or 7 spd. SO just how long of an axle do I need 132-134? The catalog 18 shows a 132 as standard but 134 and 140 available.

What really annoys me is U sed to know all this but just can't remember anymore.

Rubberleggs I know what you mean but It is just silly to have those beautiful hubs just sitting in a bag not being used. I thought several times about selling them but I think I'll sell some of my NR/SR era hubs instead.

Hubs sitting around? Yup, KNOW that feeling, have these, and have thought of building them up for my Italian build, but would have to break down a perfectly good set of wheels with FRENCH HF Hubs to do it!

Dispite my foul mood after finding a broken frame I did manage to get a few things done. The C-rec wheels are wiped down, need some blue magic so I can use B dub's tool. The rear hub is respaced for 7spd with an axle about 134.6mm and just needs to be redished a bit. I didn't glue them on yet but I did take off the ratty old Continental and black Vittoria tires.

Naturally things went bad when I got what I thought were Record cranks off the shelf. As it turns out they are actually Centaur ;(, but since the SR crank was already off and the new BB installed I put them on any way. It doesn't look that bad though. Next a new RD cable and a start looking for a different seatpost.
