Vintage Bells
I need a bell for my bike, my Schwinn is too smooth and buttery for pedestrians to hear my approach.
Show me some pictures of awesome vintage bells so that I might garnish some ideas of what to look for!

Crane makes a number of different models of brass bike bells.
The Crane Riten gets good reviews. They sell for about $20.

I have three, or is it four of the Crane Brass bells. Clear, loud, and fun to polish!

hard to see it in this picture, but i recently bought a polished brass bell by electra at my LBS for $9.99
it isnt super loud but its simple, inexpensive, and very functional.
but now that i see that copper bell, i think that will go with the copper theme i got going on my bike...

I got me one of the same Saint Chris's. Though the bracket fell off and stupid me melted the plastic gear in it when I went to tack weld the bracket back onto the bell.
Note to self, remove all components of everything before welding. I'm still looking for a donor bell for that plastic part.

That's it!! I'm starting a bicycle bell collection I thought! Then I saw the Buy Now on this bell, $90!
I'll collect entire bikes instead....it's less expensive!

I use the big "roller" bells that ring and ring when you pull the lever. Mine have come from a variety of sources but Yellow Jersey stocks them.

Spent a few hours yesterday polishing a Crane bell I obtained amongst a bulk lot of random parts.
Before:
After:
I've got a feeling the top nut isn't original as most examples I can find have a dome nut, along with the tell-tale scratches from an adjustable wrench, so I might find a brass dome nut to finish it off.
I don't use a bell, so I've surprised myself how attached I've become to this one.

This is a Brit double ringer, brass with Nickel plate, maybe pre-war. Loud and Proud. Kick start the old thread. Sick of Netflix reruns.
