Fleetwing Bike
Does anyone have more information about Fleetwing Bikes from Buffalo, NY? I have one that belonged to my mother, made before 1922, probably older. Before I take it to the dump or otherwise dispose of it, I would like to know if it is worth anything.

Nt bob, you're probably going to need to supply pictures before any definitive answers can be found, but please don't take it to the dump.

I have a flickr account but could NOT make a new set. hmm. I started a photobucket account, uploaded 4 images of the nameplate, but don't know how to share with you. These programs are not viewer friendly.

The images appeared! The bike is in my attic, lying on it's side behind a bunch of heavy boxes. I snaked my way into it to get these photos. It is not pristine because it was used a lot. There was a cotton string webbing over the rear tire acting as a guard against dresses getting caught in the spokes. That is gone. I think the tires were replaced at one time. But it works. I can get other photos, with considerable effort, if someone is serious about obtaining this bike from me.

And keep the tires, no matter how bad they look. That kind is really hard to find and usually good at least for display pieces.

Mmmm. Hard to judge from your pics, but if it's something like this, finding a good home should not be a problem

I'm not in the market for something that old, but somebody here would be into it.
Offer it up for free in the "Pay It Forward" thread. You may find one of us living near enough to you to just come on over and pick it up. Or, anyone who's wiling to pick it up for shipping costs (probably $50-70) is reasonably likely to make something of it; but that leaves you the hassle of shipping it, which is significant. Either way you're going to have drag it out and take some detailed pix.
If, after doing your research, you decide it's worth some money and you want to sell it, a deluxe membership here is cheap at $20, and allows you to post it for whatever price you think you can get in the Classic & Vintage For Sale subforum. The most labor intensive alternative is "Go Full eBay" and see what the world thinks its worth.

I wouldn't mind working on it myself. In fact I would love to work on it. Won't flip it.

Where are you? In Nantucket, or elsewhere? It would be easiest if someone nearby could pick it up. Probably couldn't get my brother there from Chelmsford, but I'll bet someone is closer.
