I am visiting the area next week and want to do the ride from Cinnicinati to Dayton.I am unfamilar with the area. Is this a fairly safe ride? Can anyone reommend a good bike shop to rent a RB near the route? Thanks!!!

The Little Miami Bike Trail can take you from east of Cincinnati up towards Xenia Ohio which is close to Dayton. The H-Connector Bikeway goes from Xenia to Dayton. I believe that it's two bike paths that join together.

There is also the Great Miami River trail which goes directly into Dayton, but there are incomplete segments of the trail where you would have to find your way on road.
I rode this trail from Franklin to Miamisburg last month.

I've ridden the Dayton spur. It seems safe enough.
There is an extensive system of bike trails in Dayton but they don't all connect to each other, so you'll want to plan your route carefully.
BTW, they will send you a map of the trail system for free if you ask them nicely.
