I miss it already!

I know this is probably why most of you here have learned to and do your own maintenance but Is it hard for anyone else here to drop a bike off at a shop and leave it behind to be worked on?

Last night I purchased a Livingsocial deal for a Level 4 tune up. It was 95 dollars for basically a complete overhaul. I decided to use it on my 1982 Trek 613. It needs a headset overhaul and the wheelset retensioned so Figured a good price to get both of those done. Well today after work I dropped the bike off and now I'm already missing it. I just want to ride it now. Luckily I know the shop appreciates older stuff and will take care of it. The owner and the mechanic seemed pretty excited about working on it.

An experience I have not yet done....I am on the economy plan and do what I need to get done myself. Which shop "Likes" C&V? So many these days just aren't into them, I understand the whole price point/profit margin thing....NEW is where the money is.

^ this. Plus I don't have a shop I would trust with my RRA for something like that. If you trust the shop and the owner(s), then should be no worries. I enjoy overhauling my bike, and take the time to do things (cleaning, etc.) that no shop trying to make a buck would do. Let us know how it comes out, as your impression of the owner and mechanic's excitement is important, and would leave me at peace.

I do have a shop that I "might" trust based on having them face the BB. The two older guys there were commenting on "cool old frame/bike", and "great to see someone still riding the old Campy" (I only brought the bare frame in, or it might have had the fork/headset in it so they saw the Campy). If I got one of them doing it (and could spend the money), I would be comfortable.

Cool, I've heard of them, just have not stopped in there. Must be just off the trail. May drop in next time I pass that way....I do NOT like cycling through downtown CLWTR....Stop, Go, Stop, Go, Stop.....

I do have a set of wheels I want trued and tensioned, but they'll (the LBS) get the wheels only. I don't have a LBS in Phoenix that I trust so I do everything myself ...... except wheels.

I got most of the tools and a workstand I just need a house with a garage. My girlfriend does not take kindly to me working on things inside, Especially with solvents and such. Once the lease is up I am looking for a house with a garage and I'll start doing a lot more in house. Luckily this is a shop I don't mind giving some money too. Bike will be riding great for the C&V ride on Nov. 16th though!

Sounds like a decent deal. But I can't believe your gf doesn't let you work in the house. She seems so into the whole bike thing

Haha Yea man not really. If I didn't have the spare bedroom full of so much stuff I could probably get away with it in there. With 6 bikes in there along with all my golf clubs, skateboards, longboards and other random stuff there just is not enough room in there to fully disassemble the bike and get everything clean. I have hoarder tendencies.....

Got the bike back today and they did a great job with it. Mechanic sent me some pics of the parts off the bike.
