If you really have deep pockets... I can buy a good small car for that sum!
Its just too much and I don't see the leetists dropping that kind of cash on a road bike.

16K for a 10 lb road bike? I think I'll pass.
It may be profitable for pro racing teams who can squeeze every weight advantage they can on the race course.
But for average road bike cyclists its too expensive!

Trek is claiming that it's their best-riding road bike. I'd be interested to try one to see how that claim holds up.
Expensive, yes, but there are even more expensive bikes out there.

The UCI has a weight minimum of 15lbs. I think it is a bargain. Compare this to a complete Colnago C59 equiped with Campy EPS and a set of BORA wheels for about the same price and performance wise the Trek is a bargain. The Colnago comes in much heavier. Even the $13,000 Cannondale Supersix black comes in at 13 pounds.

I wouldn't want to take out a mortgage to own one.
I don't think any bike is really worth the price of a car. And a bike depreciates the moment you ride it home.

Nice bike. Personally, I'd rather have a Helium.

I am genuinely impressed with this bike. It's FAR lighter than the lightest offering of any other major manufacturer. The price is a bargain too, by weight weenie standards, compared to top of the line offerings from others.

This bike has 'MURICA! written all over it. I think it's a testament to compete with the expensive Euro makers like Pinarello, Colnago and Willier, much like the new Corvette C7. Good job 'Murica!

EDIT: For what it's worth, while I wouldn't drop that amount of coin on that particular bike, I don't have any problem with someone else doing so, as long as they can afford it. Past a certain, relatively low dollar point, all our bikes are just luxuries. Not that there's anything wrong with that . . .

This is a last-ditch effort by Sram to reverse their death-spiral and quash rumors of their impending decline.

I know girls with handbags that each cost most than this bike. I don't have a problem with the price, if someone enjoys it.

commu*ist spy
totally worth it
you will not regret it one bit
not even a little.
people will recognize you
women will rave at the sound of your name
no registration need at a fully booked 5 star restaurant.
