Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Zipp 30 hub (122 and 249)

I received a pair of zipp 30's yesterday, haven't had a chance to take them out but noticed that the hub seems to have some resistance. Doesn't seem too bad but it's noticeable when comparing to my other wheel sets. Am I safe to assume that the hubs require a breaking in period? Not sure if I should bring them to the shop prior to taking them out. Any thoughts?

My Zipp 808 ' spin forever. The bearing adjustment should have a tiny bit of play in them. The bearings are loaded when the quick release lever is tightened.

I train on a set of Zipp 30s and they do break in after you ride them. They get smoother and smoother. Ive been very pleased with mine, they definitely run for a long time. You'll notice the sound of the rear hub change as well once you get rolling. At first they're a bit quiet then they start getting louder.
