There were a few irresistible deals this week for keepers, in addition to a couple of recondition and flip candidates (not shown).

First up, a loaded touring Super Course. Paint is superb, and it also included a new wheel set and a nice drilled crankset to replace the Deore triple.

Then, a 1985 TREK 520 Cirrus, with Deore RD. Small dent in top tube, but one of those Velo-Orange leather covers will mitigate that easily.

Then, a Team Miyata, Dura Ace equipped.

And the last one, off of ebay, but a local pickup, a Motobecane Grand Record, mostly Campy. It may be a tad large for me, but I haven't ridden it yet.

Oh, almost forgot, one more, a minty 1992 Schwinn PDG Series 40.

Wow, you had a great week! I like the blue-grey bags on the Raleigh, are those Cannondales?

Those are nashbars. If you want/need a set, I think the seller has an identical setup he'd sell. They are basically NOS.

Yes, yes, about 50 different bikes per purchase, so nearly 250!!!!!!

No, but that very same bike was being discussed (and lusted at) over here. The "bent" chainstay was throwing some people off. <g>

I lucked out as the number 1 buyer for it canceled on the seller. Plus, I'm 600 miles away right now. But the seller was cool and a non-biking friend of mine who lives nearby went over to facilitate the purchase.

I've actually had pretty good luck of late with long distance buying off CL. The Trek 520 seller has held the bike for me for over a month with only a ten percent deposit. And he happened to be coming to Saratoga Springs from southeast Vermont the same day I was heading to NJ from ADK, so that saved me 2+ hours of driving.

Wow Oddjob! Three great roadbikes in one week!
(And I'm especially Partial to SC's and Motos!)

Of course, if you can cast a net 600 miles wide, your shopping expeditions could become legend.

If not too big, you will love the ride on the Moto GR. I have the same exact bike ('74 I believe), only I built mine up w/ Campy SR some 34 years ago. It's one bike that will never leave. Nice Score...!

Yes, originally as part of a pair, but way in the boonies, then remarketed two hours closer to me in Burlington.

Auchen, as you know, trust among good friends help too. Which reminds me, I have friends in LA, Flagstaff, Austin, Portland, Oklahoma City, Chicago............................

Not to mention a 26' trailer. It'd be like towing a one car garage around!

When you look for bikes pretty much continuously, you will have that rare week like the one you just had. Its not about luck. Its about perseverance, and is the reward for all of your HARD work!

Your networking is one thing I continually recommend to posters in red hot markets that complain about high prices. Do you have family or friends in another area (hopefully not so red hot)? Have them facilitate for you! Its a great way to overcome sky high prices!

Well done!

Please don't confuse ebay "asking" prices with "selling" prices. Many sellers never get their ask price. some are far from it. Value is determined once an item actually SELLS. Its easy enough to check SOLD prices.

I had one of those 520's. SUCH a nice riding machine! Unfortunately I am 6'1" with a 34.5 standover, and the bike was a 65cm. I sold it to a member here. If it fit, I'd have kept it for sure. The moto is my other favorite! VERY nice find!! I have the red/black of about the same year. This one is begging for Mafacs or Universals on the brakes, and a skinny Brooks. What a lucky week!,,,,BD

wow! The miyata is something really special. I mean all nice scores but for me the Miyata outshines them all, that is a vintage bike I would really ride. (most of my riding is on modern bikes). I can't believe 21 replies and no ones has even pointed out that it is the greatest gem in the bunch.

Great finds.

You might want to look over the Team Miyata closely. It appears to be a repaint with non-original decals; might be something else underneath.

I had a great short ride on the 520. I like the wider tires and handlebars that came on that bike.

I already have a set of Universal 68 side pulls that should be perfect for the Moto.
