Anybody have the Sunlite 350mm seatpost with black fluting?
Thinking about buying this seatpost, but the pictures online aren't very good.. anyone own one and have pics/wanna give a review? seen mixed reviews on Amazon. I like the fluting but for about the same price I could get a Kalloy Laprade w/o fluting that might be better quality so not sure..

I would go with the Kalloy. Had very good luck with their stuff.
Took a chance on an off-brand post once and it didn't have enough tilt adjustment to make the saddle level.

What diameter? I would buy kalloy before Pyrimid, the jury here is still out on Sunlite.

it seems Pyramid and Sunlite are the same company, or at least on Amazon

Just checked the pic of my Alpina Pro (it has a smooth post). While I really prefer a fluted post over a smooth post, and I have used several of those Sunlite posts, once you have a lot of post showing, the aesthetic advantage of a fluted post is lost imho.

I bought one on ebay but haven't used it yet. First I'm going to cut it down to a normal length. Seems more or less like a Kalloy, except the paint.

I stuck a fluted Sunlight on my Pug, since it looked similar to the original ITM and gave me a little more extension. It's a bit heavy, but I'm pretty happy with it.

Sunlite/Pyramid is an off brand, sure. They're the J&B house cheap brand. But I find most of their stuff works fine for me EXCEPT for tools. I've replaced the stem on my 3 speed w/one of their "piston" stems and it has done a great job of STAYING PUT. I am a big guy and I really stress the heck out of bars and stems. I order piles and piles of their cantilever brake sets because I see a lot of the broken plastic Shimano units from the 90s. I havent used the post in question but I suspect it will offer a reasonably long effective life at a good price point. Their tools are pretty much garbage though IME.
Anything they make that is plastic feels cheaper than other brands of plastic items (I mean mostly stuff like mounts for u-locks, lights, mirrors- stay away from the plastic mirrors!)
XLC is another brand to look for in regards to low cost repair parts. XLC is Seattle Bike Supply's house brand. They make a ridiculously cheap alloy pillar seatpost and awesome cheap alloy north road style bars. Unfortunately XLC stuff always has an obnoxious logo on them so I usually go with a silver bar or post and hit it with a brass brush and some oil for a brushed / matte finish.

I bought this post to replace the short original post in 1985 chrome mongoose ATB, 25.8 mm. Ok quality, looks kinda vintage, but flutes are short.. I just measured, 45mm from end to end, not a big deal but looks funny if you have a lot of post showing...
