Motivation Challenge - Also Charity Payout

I've got an odd idea. Say you have a goal of 100 miles a month. Or 150.. whatever it is. What if you took some amount of money, say $50 and put it in the a pool with other people's money. And now pretend that if you reach your goal you get your money back (or let it roll to next month) and if DON'T reach your goal then a prorated portion of it goes to a charity?

There is actually a website like that already ? I remember reading about it. Not like everymove but it DOES come up in articles that mention everymove and achieveminnt.

Might be dietbet I was thinking of ? It is mostly weight loss though by the look of it. But it worked like that exactly :-)

dietbet is the same way. the website take a commission, but then all the pool gets split among the people that reach their goals. Since money is involved they require phot evidence. That could be harder for proving mileage.... maybe a GPS trace or something.

Interesting. Thanks for the point on the site that already does it. Even if one does I wonder if we could manage one ourselves? It could get tricky and a the potential issues are there of course.
