Fort Wayne or Bust!! Cycling Friendly? C&V Places
As many of you may have noticed from comments in my sale posting I am moving to Fort Wayne, IN. It wasn't planned but alas it is something I feel I need to do. Despite if being sort of rushed thing, I am really looking forward to it. It will be nice to be closer to my Sister to be able to help her. Now I need to find a job or two!
Does anyone know anything about Fort Wayne? Is the area cycling friendly? Group rides for beginners? Good shops who know the difference between a single key release and a self extractor?

Close enough to the 12th annual greater chicagoland spring classic and vintage ride for you to join next year.
Just sayin'.

forever shiny and chrome
J&B importers has a warehouse up there which is full of friendly and knowledgeable folks, and if I'm not mistaken some of them volunteer or work part time at one of the LBS in town
Never spent any significant time there myself, but the impression I get is it's pretty average for cycling friendliness in general

You will be a little over an hour from me. It's a nice town, nice mtb track. I don't know about road biking, but I know their Craigslist sucks.

I've not ridden in Fort Wayne but the midwest tandem rally was held there a year or two ago so I expect there are some decent places to ride.

My mom lived just east of Ft. Wayne until 3 years ago. I don't know much about the current bike scene, but be careful when riding around the countryside, as there is a large Amish population and the horses leave deposits on the road.

Good luck on your move, have always appreciated your Bianchi knowledge on here. Being near Lancaster, where I often ride, you should be well versed in Amish road cookies.

Still learning
Isn't that the trucking/distribution center of the upper midwest? Also, automotive related production.

A short tour? What do you consider a long tour? I think it is almost 175 miles+/-

I have family in the Huntington area, just SW of FW. When I visited there in 2016 it seemed like it'd be good for road riding. Lots of two lane country roads that didn't seem crowded. Kinda flat though.
