Today I received a few bits for a bike I just bought. It has drops so I'm gonna convert it to flats. My belly doesn't mix well with drops! I'll post some pics of it when I change it. Maybe before and after.

Polar M460 heart rate monitor/GPS. Dirt cheap at Walmart.com.
It does orthostatic test and structured workouts and will go on my fixed gear bike where I don't really need maps.

Just not holding my breath.
The wheels, saddle, pedals and cranks on my CX bike will go on the Steamroller. CX bike gets new wheels(WI Tracker + Surly Rear to DT swiss R460's and Laser spokes), a plain black Concor Light saddle, XT pedals and SRAM cranks.

Shimano touring shoes have served me well for both gravel and fixed gear. No complaints at all but it will be nice to be in some proper shoes.
Sidi Dominator MTB shoes look like an exact duplicate of their Genius road shoe.

I ride in these exact shoes. They're great, though the ratcheting mechanism on the buckles breaks very easily. (and is cheaply replaceable). I've also had to do the Walk Of Shame in them a few times, and they're reasonably walkable.*
*) I have Hobbit feet, though, so I prefer to go barefoot if I get stuck walking my bike very far. (7-ish miles was my longest Walk Of Shame)

Now that I have them in hand it is clear that they are an exact duplicate of the Genius road shoes which I already own. I'm on my second pair of Genius and they are workhorses. My first pair were run 12 years until the sole separated from the upper on a group ride. I got some duct tape from a Dollar General store and finished the ride.
The ratchet never broke on the Genius but road is likely gentler than MTB or gravel. I'll soon find out.
But yeah, these things are ubiquitous. I see them all over. My "Gear Head" at backcountry.com gave me $30 off.
Hobbit feet....
Should I get toe spikes? What benefit will they provide if I ride gravel?

I've only ever seen people use them for when cross races get really nasty.

Super-duper Genius
Super good tires! ^^^ I have them (in 23c) on my track bike, which has actually never seen a track, but is tons of fun on smooth roads. The wheels are ~48mm deep Reynolds crabon. With 120 PSI in the tires and pretty steep angles on every part of the frame/fork, this thing handles like a scalpel!

I run the Rubino G+ Speed on my road bike, also around 90 PSI.
They wear fast but are super light and supple.

- Nitto Mod 55 Touring drops
I took a look at my chain the other day and realized that the thing hadn't been changed in at least 5 years. With that and the current lack of brakes on my bike, you can bet I was on Amazon in a matter of seconds.
I also bought a set of Nitto touring drops from a friend just recently for an easy 5 bucks.
