First Ride Today

I took the bike out today for its first ride in 3 years. I spent time this weekend sorting the gear, replaced the Cateye batteries, drive train is lubricated, and the tires still hold air (and me). It was only a 3 mile ride to run thru all the gears and check the overall function of the bike. It needs new tires before I ride too far from home.

I'm ashamed it sat idle for three seasons but I'm determined to get back out this season. Both of my shoulders were operated on, and after the last surgery I stopped riding. I need a lot of reconditioning, but at least I have a starting point now.

Glad you got out there. Do a series of under 5 miles to get things going again, and then slowly progress from there.

At least you recall why you stopped riding. I started riding again last year after a number of years off but I cannot remember why I ever stopped. But it's good to be back.

Congrats. No go ride it like you stole it! You’ll be surprised how quickly a level of conditioning will return! Enjoy!

Yes, the doctor approved riding. There was extensive physical therapy after each surgery. Complete recovery takes up to 12 months for an adult. If your son's shoulder is keeping him awake at night, causing constant discomfort, etc.; then a resistance band may cause more harm if the muscle or tendons are torn. An MRI is the most effective method to diagose the issue.
