Gave up the bike buying over the last 2 years, maybe one project a year but even that has ended. Still love riding/commuting but got burned out on saving/rehabbing CV bikes.

As bike flipping waned I started windsurfing again and that takes up any free time I can scrounge together april-nov. XC ski in winter to keep sane while waiting for ice out.

Well, I suppose eating is a hobby of mine, especially lunch.

It doesn't get in the way of bikes and riding, though. On the contrary, it is the number one incentive for a ride ("let's go have lunch in/at/with <preference of the day>").

I do like buying bikes.

One reason is fairly obvious: that Christmas morning feeling I get when I have just acquired a bike of yet another obscure brand and am racing home to get a closer look, find out what it is I have bought and share the finds here.

The other was a bit of a surprise, but has become just as important: I get to meet a lot of nice and interesting people. I usually pick up the bikes I've bought and, more often than not, spend a significant amount of time talking to the seller. About the bike in question, about bikes in general, about events, about racing careers, about bike collections, about tools. I have learned a lot, made new friends, and have also been "gently persuaded to leave" by sellers' spouses more than once ...

Actually the other way around, bicycles have been getting in the way of this, which is fine.

Got to get back to it, very cathartic in a cycling sort of way, nothing like dropping the hammer and wringing out a fully capable
instrument to a positive result, or not.

Kids... I just bought my 9 year old a new diamondback with disc brakes for Christmas. Dreaming of retiring in 11 years so plans are slowly getting in place to make that happen. Nice to see others varied interests...

Your post stirs some regrets: I once traded a Kriegsmarine HSc Mauser pistol for a really nice a Speed Graphic that I thought was of equal value, and our last move resulted in the disappearance of my trusty Kodak Retina IIIc which had long been my "go anywhere" hiking/sailing film camera. Retina was unused for years but it saw far more use than several very expensive Japanese SLR's BITD. Don

There are tons of venues here, of course, but check out The Sidewalk Cafe which by the way is not an outdoor place. It's on Avenue A. A relative and a friend (two separate people) have performed there, and it's a nice place.

My line of work has no real closures. My hobbies do. I restore things and can say to myself - "hey look what I have done". That is how I stay somewhat sane. (OK - hunting is not restoring... but it defintely has closure)

I used to spend a lot of time and money pursuing old cameras, especially 35 mm slr. I don't have anything approaching this collection, except for the Kodak 35RF. Mine are more of the hobby photographer level. I like to be able use them, so with the demise of local film developing, I have stopped any new acquisitions. I have a Sony slr, so it is nice that I can still use my old Minolta AF lenses.

Music. I like to play guitar. I'm working on song writing.

My house. Always something going on there that requires me attention.

I have kids but i wouldn't call that a hobby as much as an obligation.

Non bike exercise. I've been jogging and walking a lot. I have a goal of walking or running at least 5 miles a day for 100 consecutive days (i'm currently on day 97).

Beer. drinking cool, new beers is definitely a hobby.

The Kodak Retina IIa (front camera in the picture) has been my go-to travel camera for close to 40 years.
