Kinda NBD: Custom LeMond Washoe
After more than a year (COVID delays), my Washoe project is finally done! When LeMond released these bikes back in 2015, I wanted one so bad but wasn't in a position to buy one. Last year I managed to find one on eBay from a nice English chap, and had the bike shipped to me in the US. Unfortunately, the seller didn't realize the paint had started to bubble up . . . so off to the painter the bike went. Got her back a couple of weeks ago and finished the build last night. The ride is amazing.
Here are the build details:
Frame: 1788.5g (55cm)
Fork: 382.2g
Black Inc 42x110 handlebar stem w/ computer mount: 350.6g
Sram Red 22 Mechanical rim brake group
Chris King Headset & BB
Extralite Ultra Star 4
Extralite Hyperspacer 3D printed spacers (20mm & 5mm)
AbsoluteBLACK integrated top cap
Alpitude Superleggero bottle cages
Darimo T1 Loop seatpost
Darimo sub4 seatpost clamp
Selle Italia SLR C-59 saddle
Boyd Cycling 60mm carbon clinchers, set up tubeless with 25mm Schwalbe Pro Ones
Tririg Styx aero skewers
Jagwire link cabling
Speedplay Stainless Zero pedals
As pictured, the bike is 7.4kg (16.3 pounds). I'm thoroughly pleased with how it rides/handles/looks.

Nice bike. I'm wondering how many people will ride up alongside and call you "Greg."

yes, nice ride. what is the relevance of Washoe? i know Greg LeMond used to train up Geiger Grade which starts out in Washoe County (and ends in Storey County). i wonder if that is where the relationship is?

That's funny, because I am in aviation and was thinking to myself "no way he's referring to go/no-go speed!" Let's say it's got a V1 of 1 knot . . . as soon as it starts to roll, I'm takin' it airborne .

An awesome accent would be to use the Rock n Roll extreme chain lube.

Nicely done. If I didn't already have my Guru Sidero (SRAM Red mechanical) this is exactly what I would have done. Same size too. Again.....great job.
