Dumb comment last August, just as dumb now.

OP was saying that drinking water while riding a bike "seems dangerous." I don't need 3 wheels to feel safe doing it, and I don't know anyne who thinks they do, either.

I'm late to this party but there is no "right" answer to the OP's question. What is a waste to one rider may be a necessity or a supreme enjoyment to another.

I tried to get it refocused to most regretted purchase, but too many people wanted to tell everyone else they were doing it wrong.

Too late, you mentioned them the first time you responded to that post. Get that memory checked!!!

Kind of sad, actually. In real life when the cogs start slipping there's usually someone concerned enough to put hand to shoulder and say "Come on friend, time to go home." On the internet they are just left in full view, pants around the ankles.

If I had to choose the biggest waste of money in biking? Ceramic bearings.

Refocusing on the most regretted purchase is so wrong it just might make sense.

The biggest waste is to use chain wax to remove leg hair.

Along with massively expensive over-sized derailleur jockey wheel systems. Although I see the CeramicSpeed one is now reduced to £380 lol.
Maybe the highest cost/Watt saving ever?

How is it wrong? It's actually making people speak from personal knowledge. This thread was a troll fest with arguments between people who would never try X because it was a waste vs. people who like X and didn't appreciate being judged for buying it.

A few people on this forum have said drinking from a bottle while riding is dangerous.

Then there was the thread that turned into a debate over the safety of snapping photos while riding.

It's exactly as dangerous on three wheels as it is two.

$300 for shoes is a lot? I suppose it's relative. I've found that 300 is a pretty common price for shoes in many specialized activities. Hiking boots are often around $300. XC-ski shoes worth using are around $300. I don't see why cycling shoes would be an exception as for that price you'll likely be getting a pretty stiff carbon fiber sole etc.

Upon personal reflection, driving 15 miles to a MUP trail when I had great hilly roads outside my front door.
Wasted time and gas before embracing hills.

Cat Seven? Never knew it existed.

No longer will I be satisfied being only Cat 6. Now I have higher aspirations.

The biggest waste is spending money on items that do not fit your ridding style. Buying a light weight carbon bike while being overweight.

If that light bike motivates the overweight rider to ride more, it was money well spent.

OK how about handle bar mirrors that fall off and break after 10 seconds! 30 bucks down the drain!
