Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Got an email from Cannondale today, announcing their new LAB71 SuperSix EVO:

The latest LAB71 SuperSix EVO has arrived, carrying with it the all-new SRAM Red groupset – lighter, faster, more comfortable, with even smarter features and better device integration. The dream build is rounded out with a SRAM AXS power meter crankset, CeramicSpeed bottom bracket, and the brand new Reserve Turbulent Aero 42/49 rims laced to DT Swiss 180 hubs with SINC ceramic bearings – a wheelset so far out in front that, for a limited time, the only place in the world you’ll be able to find it is on this bike.

$16k even. If you can find one. I think I'll pass.

Will it make me faster?

edit: Oh darn, they only go up to 58. And I was all set to break out the platinum card.

I read somewhere that adaptive headlamps are still illegal in the U.S.?? We have them up here now on many cars (ours does). Their proliferation has made a noticeable difference for night driving.

Game was good, but in the middle of the game I got a text that our Amtrak train we bought tickets for was canceled and we should take the next train which is TWO HOURS LATER. Eff that action, we splurged and took a Lyft home. I tried to cancel the train tickets for a refund online and of course the website won’t let me.

Now on hold with 1-800-USA-RAIL for god knows how long to try to get a refund. Grrr.

Headlights are blinding us. Here’s why it’s mostly an American problem

This was taken before the game started. It still ended up being about 35% capacity which is probably typical for a midweek game. The Angels won 7-2 BTW.

Over the years I've noticed several companies stop at 58. I could probably ride it but the bar would be too low and I'd need a long seatpost.
