bicycle variety
just wondering what different types of bike people on here have, do most of you stick with classics or do you own different types? i have an 80's bianchi not sure just found it and cleaned it up. 98 trek y-glide, 2010 trek madone and a 2009 trek ttx. 1963 columbia firebolt and a stretched frankenstien cruiser. and someday a vintage colnago.

I like having variety, though I've definitely found my preference is for newer lugged steel. My next project will be a drop bar Surly Pugsley.

Variety is the spice of life. Bikes/frames from '79 to '09. road, tour, mtb, cross; steel, Al, Ti. No full CF rides...yet.

About 90% are '70's/80's road bikes, along with a few older English 3-speeds, one (winter) MTB, and a '73 Schwinn Suburban.

1974 Gazelle Champion Mondial built with a 9 speed shimergo set up. My main ride. Love it.
1988 Peugeot Nice currently sporting indexed shimano 6 speed. Soon to be sporting a 105 triple set up and some nice 32 mm tires so i can keep up with friends riding cross bikes on trails. It's not getting much use currently and this change would definitely open some doors for it.
1992ish Specialized Stumpjumper Comp. 7 speed indexed Deore mix bike. It was fun riding it by myself, on the farm at home. When I started riding seriously with people who had better brakes, it couldn't hang. It's going back to farm duty.
2010 Cannondale Trail SL 29er. It's my main mountain ride. I'm still adjusting to SRAM shifting (X9). I'm absolutely a hydraulic disc brake convert though.
I feel like I have some variety, but small numbers.

See signature. Near-littermate Capo road bikes. The 1959 is red w/ white head tube, repainted, straight gauge Reynolds 531, mostly updated components except for brakes and shift levers. The 1960 is white w/ red head tube, original paint, butted Reynolds 531, mostly original components.
My Peugeot commuter has mostly 1970s Japanese components.
My Schwinn mountain bike has a couple of evolutionary dead ends, including a SunTour RollerCam front brake and under-the-chainstay Shimano U-brake.
**New addition: My first aluminum bike and first suspension bike -- a Trek 7000 mountain bike, a $40 yard sale treasure.**
