The right bike and I can see it. Small run, well made, no repeat customers to rely on? Sounds about right, if it includes shipping. China Asia kills it for me, though. If it was made in the US, I'd be in for one.

Yah, those look pretty kewhl! I'm tempted to buy one for my PY10FC which presently sports an OK at best, plastic adaptors.....
I'd say 50 bucks is even a bit too much for two of those things. Fair price is more like 15 bucks each......IMO.....
And I thought the Chinese (Taiwanese) made things so they will be cheaper to buy.....

"I have just bought x2 Tune Skyline Carbon Bottle Cages at 5g each, my plan is to take my nano drill and shed the weight of them to at least 3g each or possibly less, I feel that the alloy bolts that come with them are just excessive weight.
Could anyone recommend any hollow plastic, ti ect bolts that are lighter?
Also do you think I could get away with just having one bolt in each cage really tight?
Thanks for the help"
It gets worse lol. I think I prefer the aesthetically driven form of craziness.

Nice molded contoured elastomer too. I can't imagine that it would be very robust at the split section. But what do you want for only $100? I see the Brompton peeps also buy titanium water bottles. Not to disrespect 'em, but isn't it the water that weighs 98% of the full bottle?

A local frame builder charges $40 for installing mounts, of course then there's the repainting thing though. Those strap style cage clamps are no longer trusted by me. One of those failed on me on Sunday, and the crank came around and ripped it from the frame. I was not amused.,,,,,BD

You aren't missing the $100, are you?
(IMHO, which nobody but you asked for, that's ridiculous.)

The little plastic padding pieces inserted into the "clamps" would be quite tricky too.
It's a nice looking piece. But I agree. A hundred bucks is too much. Maybe thirty nine, ninety nine.

It's machined aluminum. And a fairly complex piece to make. But once you have the CNC set up designed and dialed in, should be able to kick them out rapidly. Can't figure out how it actually clamps to the tube.

The market decides how much a product will or will not sell for over a period of time.
Goes back to the question of do we build it here in the USA and pay someone a reasonable wage to do so or do we ship the manufacturing off shore and pay someone very little to do the task.

I see now, looking at the exploded view diagram in the pics. Three piece, actually five piece, construction. Clamp in two pieces, which are held in place by set screws in the bottle cage mount piece. Quite an elaborate design. And elegant. I wonder how well it works?

The Rixen & Kaul doodahs are held on by a stainless band. Steel is, of course, heavier than aluminum; but in a case like this, where you need only a tiny little bit of steel, it makes sense:

They have been learning in the last two decades. If Taiwan, in relative terms to the rest of Asia ithey are now the expensive producer outside of Japan. All of Asia has been sending students to the USA to get industrial design degrees and MBA's for quite a while. No surprise to me actually.
