Show Your Vintage Schwinn Prologue!
I know several of us own one or more of these bikes. IMHO, its the peak of Japanese made Schwinn bikes. I've owned several Panasonic Schwinns and the Prologue is definitely my favorite. Only made three years, 1987, 1988 and 1989. Sold as a frameset, so I have seen them built up with a variety of groups.
I've had my red and white 1987 Prologue for several years, probably six or more. Recently I picked up a black and gray 1987 Prologue. I've built my red and white one with several groups: Sante, 600 Tricolor, 7400 Dura Ace, and most recently a Dura Ace 7700 mix (micro shift 9 speed levers, Tiagra compact crankset, tricolor wheel set).
I built the black and gray model up with Dura Ace 7400. Hit the bin hard on this one. Its more consistent, crankset, brakes, levers, wheels, headset are all 740x Dura Ace. Dura Ace aero seat post (not sure the era on that one).
Hopefully this will encourage others to post their Prologues as well. They also had a funny bike version.

Like most Schwinns from that era, very easy to date these bikes. 0497 = 49th day of 1987. Some models had their own unique head badges, always a good thing. Bikes also have the typical Panasonic serial number on the head tube.

Please don't confuse ebay "asking" prices with "selling" prices. Many sellers never get their ask price. some are far from it. Value is determined once an item actually SELLS. Its easy enough to check SOLD prices.

Lightest bike that I own at an even 21 lbs. I haven't weighed my 60th anniversary Paramount Ti yet though.
At 5' 6" the frame is probably the right size for me, but I don't like to bend over that far anymore, hence the ugly riser stem.

Resurrecting this old thread to show the '87 Prologue I just added to the stable. Picked it up on the way to work and didn't even have an allen wrench to adjust the seat height for my quick test ride.
