Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Got some Livestrong Oakleys as a gift.....is it Fredish?

Its my anniversary today. And i am such a loser that normally i just get my wife a gift card, or cash on days like this (birthdays, xmas, anniversary, mothers day) but i do it so i get it right, and most of the time, that's what she asks for.

Well, for fathers day I got a whole kit (pearl Izumi bibs, jersey and some running shoes) today i woke up and found some Jawbone Oakley Livestrong.

I wear the bracelet, and regardless what people think of Lance, i like the bracelet. And i had seen them at the store. I didnt think much of it, and at one point I thought they were cool.
Is it Fredish to wear something like this.

what is your opinion?

I second GP's comment - she will never complain about gold.

And, in answer to your question - wear whatever you like - other people don't matter (especially if you believe in a cause!)

Your wife got them for you. You know what you have to do. I actually like the color combos and am shopping for a pair. GL

If you're fast, you can wear anything you want.

If you're slow, you can also wear anything since your embarrassingly slow speed overshadows any fashion faux pas.

If you're somewhere in the middle.... watch out.

A gift from the wife... sorry, but you HAVE to wear them. So you have two choices... ride real fast or slow to a crawl.

My uncled Fred is "Fredish." People who ride bikes are not known by the term "Fred" outside of a few morans on BF.net.

Wondering if people on an internet forum won't approve of what you wear when riding your bike is ghey, though.

Jawbones are the bomb! Watch the TdF, almost all the riders are wearing them. I just ordered a pair too, although not the LS ones. I also wear the wrist band and support their cause, but the LS bones were about $100 more than I paid for mine.

Enjoy and wear in good health!!

You guys must not have a wife like mine. She returns everything to pick out what she wants, and that includes her engagement ring. My wife wouldn't be bothered one bit if I returned some frames for ones I prefer.

If you're here asking for opinins on the LS frames, you must not be comfortable in them, and should return them for something you think is awesome. Oakley makes piles of great frame designs.

You cannot go wrong with Jawbones, in any color.

Showing your support to Livestrong is great and supporting the most accomplished US rider (Lance) is awesome.
I rode by someone wearing full Liquigas kit and the team scheme Cannondale, did I laugh? Nah, I thought it was cool to show your colors, especially with the TdF going on. If I had some 'Shack gear I would rock it.

I wouldn't go out and buy them for myself, but if I received them as a gift from a loved one, I'd definitely wear them. Screw what everyone else thinks; you won't please all of them, all the time any way.

Your wife buys you something expensive and useful and you think you might turn your nose up at it because you're not sure it's cool? Good luck with that.

Only poseurs worry about posing, in my experience. Wear wtf you like.

You're internet illiterate of you don't get that reference. But more to the point, nobody in the "real world" has ever used the name "Fred" to refer to a cyclist of whom they did not disapprove. It never happened.

It's a made-up thing that certain weird people on BF.net wish were true because they think it's clever. Go ahead and say "he's a Fred" to one of your riding buddies in reference to a third cyclist. Your buddy will say "he's a what?"

They're not fred-ish at all. If you can ride in a straight line at speeds over 12mph, and know what on your left means, you can wear whatever cycling gear you want as far as I'm concerned.
