1971 Raleigh Pro.... back yard find! Pic heavy, but we love that, right?

Hi amigos, I acquired this Pro just recently! It was found in a city 15 minutes from where I live. I got there in 2! :-) It has a full Campy NR gruppo, along with a 3TTT Grand Prix "Special" stem, and Weinmann tubulars! The Pro unfortunately is too tall for me at 60cm. I ride a 54-58cm. I will take it to a bike shop to see if they can turn it into a 56cm, which will be perfect! :-) The paint is in beautiful condition probably a 9.5/10. I have not ridden the bike, but I have obtain extreme satisfaction by just looking at it in my living room. The Pro does have an unfortunate injury which I have no idea how it could have happened. Extra points if you can point it out. As always, thanks for your time, comments, thoughts, recommendations, and feedback. I sincerely appreciate it.

Is it a long top tube dent? It looks like towards the rear maybe? Beautiful bike regardless!

This is harder than Where's Waldo (assuming you're not talking about the acid rain-exposed hoods). I'm going to fold, and just go with a bent fork.

If it's too big you want to sell it? I'd be interested.

D:

I'm pretty sure the paint will no longer be in 9.5/10 condition afterwards . . .

Just beam it up through that old transporter and dial down a few molecules to turn it into a 56 cm; that is a heck of a backyard find. How cool is that?

I can share my procedure, for doing just that, and the procedure is Raleigh specific. Wanna cool Pro, cut down for speed and comfort? Here ya go...

Notice the untouched by a file welds, left as laid, for strength and good looks...

Flash - Congrats on that find! Truly stellar! I would do everything I could to ride that thing - Take vitamins, do stretching exercises, bungie-jump, whatever.

Thanks, my friend! I was thinking more like yoga! :-) One of my very first bikes was a Fuji Grand Tourer in 60cm. I rode it, as I did not know any better. I definitely want to ride this Pro to just get it out of my system! Thanks again!

You nailed it! The crazy thing is that you can only see it from the drive side. It is between the last clamp by the saddle and the middle one. It looks like a pinch of some sort, but I have no idea what could have caused it. It is not noticeable unless you really look for it! Thanks!

See if there's anyone here (or on the CR list) who just might be willing to do a direct frameset swap - Raleigh Pro in 56cm for Raleigh Pro in 60cm.

I love these old Raleigh Pros. I have one this color and I can't really tell if it's gold or green.
