Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

A note from Lena, justfitme's wife. In memoriam.

Hi ALL

I am wife of Ed , known here as justfitme...

I have a bad, very bad news...Ed passed away on February 6, sudden death, his heart ruptured after 3 miles run. We are all in shock and I know how often he would come to this forum and spend evenings sharing his dearest love to the bikes.

You all know what bikes he has and i want to ask your advice which onces should we sell and for how much and which ones to keep for his son (he is 3 now) and for memory. I am so sorry to bring this news.....

Lena

Thank you and here the book that we created for his kids to remember him by. If you want to add anything please add directly as they need to know what kind of person he was:

My sincere and deepest condolences to you and your family. My son is about the same age as yours, I cannot imagine what you are going through. My son and I are very close, he means everything to me.

Since you asked, I don't know what your situation with the bikes is but you may want to consider (if possible) keeping them for your son to decide. Bikes are very personal.

Lena,
I know these are hollow words for you right now. Godspeed Ed, we are going to miss you terribly here at BF. I'll have you and the children in my prayers, Lena. This is such a shock to all of us I am sure.

I agree with just keeping the bikes right now, unless it is a financial burden for you, let your son decide when he gets older and can appreciate what a fine man his dad was and what bicycling meant to him.

Bill

I didn't know Ed, but after reading some of his posts it became very clear that he truly loved cycling.
For that I have much respect. All the best in the dark times, you never will see them coming.

Sorry to hear of your loss. Sudden death like this is very hard to take. A similar thing happened to a friend of mine...he went for a ride and never came home. Very hard to take.

So sorry for you and your son's loss.

I went back and re-read several of Ed's posts because I re-called his pen name, justfitme.

He and his posts were always informative, direct, and honest. He was very courteous and fair and did not provoke or fan flames, he and his posts will be missed.

I will be including him in our prayers for our company's Buddhist merit making ceremony next weekend.

Mark

So sorry to hear about your loss.

As for the bikes, I went back and read through some of his recent posts and I found this:
