Jerseys which fit - 5'10, 146-148 pounds, 34" chest, 28.5" waist, 35" hips?
Ended 2013 over 200 pounds with a 36" waist. Started 2015 at 146-148 pounds and 28.5. My favorite jersey from 1997 (Giordana race cut size medium) is baggy everywhere. The medium club cuts and larges are tent-like.
5'10", 146-148 pounds, 34" chest, 28.5" waist, 35" hips. 30.5" inseam - short jerseys won't work..
What should fit?

Try some race fit small jerseys. I'm 5'6" 135-140 pounds but similar chest and waist, and I'd say try Capo, Voler, Panache, and Pearl Izumi (P.R.O. line). They run a little long on me but probably OK for you?

Race fit is tighter without being short. Some jerseys are also European cut, which means they are for leaner riders. You just have to try different brands and see what works for you.

I'm the same size, except larger in the chest and narrower hips, but extra 2" on the waist these days
. Sadly, no jerseys actually fit, race fit that is. I order small race fit and hope for the best, or medium and put up with looser fitting. You probably have to look into the expensive brand name jerseys with detailed sizing charts.

I don't know of stock jerseys but the size S or M Verge Triumph would be good, probably the S. The M is snug on me but the new fangled jerseys are more like shorts than jerseys - everything is really stretchy so it ends up a bit more forgiving if you go a size up or down.
Also, regardless of what you end up wearing, congratulations on the weight loss. That's massive.
I'm going to fix your typo in the title as well.

I'm about your height but have about 5 pounds on you and 2" more on the waist
The hardest dimensions for me are the arms then the chest
I always thought I had skinny arms till I tried about a dozen jerseys
Usually buy size large but still most feel too tight on the biceps and chest
How should a jersey feel? I'm starting to think of going to XL, but then what does the avg American at 5'10" and 180lbs wear.....XXXL?

Just tried that. Men's small is baggy in the belly (hangs like a cow's udder when leaning forwards) and short enough in front it can reveal a sliver of skin just standing. Shoulders are snug standing but good in a riding position. The rest is fine.

How do you feel about pink jerseys?
Womens sizing usually has the hips an inch bigger than chest, waist much smaller than hips.

I'm down with them. I grew up in the 1980s when Don Johnson showed us manly men could wear pink, although we called it salmon so we didn't have to admit to wearing a womens' color.
I tried that. Castelli women's medium (35.0" chest, 28.8" waist) fit great down to the waist, then ballooned back out to cover 38.2" hips which I don't have some distance above where my hips start. Other brands' size charts are similar.
The local bike shop recommended two seamstresses.
If small race cut Volers, PIs, and the Castelli aero don't fit everywhere I'm going to start with mediums chosen for color and graphics then make them fit.
I also ordered an extra small LG (36" chest, 30" waist, 36" hips) but don't have high hopes on length and mid-section fit.

LG XS standard fit is getting close - looks and feels good standing, does not expose my pale underbelly if I lift my arms, pretty uniform fit. A little loose up front in a riding position but miles better than a medium. Riding my pockets stay put in the middle of my back where they should be which is also an improvement. Comfortable at an endurance pace or short ride to work. A keeper. Up front it still flaps enough I'll keep looking for a better fit (more jerseys are on the way) for fast rides or just get mediums tailored.
Sized for 35-37" chest, 29-31" waist, 35-37" hips according to the manufacturer which is spot-on.

As a 5'10" (average height) guy, medium build, not skinny enough to have veins popping out I find running out of sizes absurd.

I have the same problem (5'9" ~150lbs.) with jerseys looking fine off the bike but bunching up in the riding position. I can't really tell from your second photo how much it's really bunching up. I'm still trying to find the really tight jerseys that the pros appear to be wearing in televised races. If you wear bib shorts the length of the jersey would be less of an issue.

LG XS racer fit aero (Corsa 2.0) - works great - nothing flaps when riding with the waist pulled down far enough, it stays anchored over the mid-section even with arms lifted in a victory salute (that is purely hypothetical), and is comfy only a little snug in the shoulders. Effectively perfect.
Castelli S race fit aero (aero race 4.0) - bunches when not in a riding position, bad then, does not stay parked well, although the shoulders are fine. Going back.

Haven't read all the responses so I apologize if this is redundant. I have found that some manufacturers have different styles that fit differently. What I do is call the seller (Competitive Cyclist for example) and get a rep on the phone. Then I tell them what I'm trying to find and give them all my pertinent info, like ht, wt, chest size, etc., and ask for their advice. Sometimes I get someone built like me but more often they know someone my size and can give me a good idea of what will work.

That guy above won the Tour de France with jerseys that bunched and had some wrinkles in them. It's okay to be picky, but at some point the pics you showed might just be the best fit you can get for non-custom kit.

OP, went back and checked your stats and viewed your pics. At 5'10" and 146 lbs you are not average IMO. You are quite lean. When I finished Basic Training at Ft. Jackson in 1969 I was 5'10" and 175 lbs. I think of that as "average", especially if you're an American. And, looking at the pics I thought the fit was damn near perfect. I'd be very happy if my kit fit that well. But, we all have our individual perspectives. I just think with yours you may find it really hard to find perfection. Maybe you need to try body paint.
But, I bet the skin around your belly wrinkles anyway. BTW you are doing really well. If I ever got down to under 170 lbs I'd be on life support.

From your pictures, Drew, you have some good fitting jerseys. Now go ride your bike.
