Do you use Walmart bike parts.

I have bought and used some of these products though I am not sure if the cable housing is coated.

Love those cable packs, and the bar wrap is hard to beat for the price.

Most likely re-branded items that work for most conditions. Good way to save money on "expendable/wear items", especially, as long as you can find good stuff amongst their offerings.....

Ya i have bought them too, they are pretty decent for sure. the housing isnt lined and i dont think the cables are die drawn(smooth) . the bar tape is just as good as most cheapie handlebar tape, but it seems to only come in black. i have not tried one of their chains yet though.
but when building a nice bike i cant bring myself to use the Walmart stuff. I like the Velo orange cable kits, they are reasonably priced and pretty high quality.

Oh and a long while back I picked up a set of 700cx38 "commuter tires" there, they may be way heavy but I love those tires and they've held up for hundreds of miles so far...

I buy cables online in bulk amounts ie 25+ at one time. Same thing with brake housing. For housing I use porkchop bmx since they have the cool clear plastic brake housing.

I go to Walmart once a month to make a casserole to feed homeless people. I am not fond of the place.

I have set foot in one, but avoid those blood sucking hell holes. The cables and housing sounds like garbage. I doubt it is stainless and at the cost of housing in bulk don't know why anyone would mess with unlined housing today. I won't even use kmc "z" chains because they are such junk. No way I would us something from walmart. that crap won't last.

I've used their cables in all my bikes and they last and work great, can't tell any difference between these and jagwires.

Tried using them but their "braided" casings are just way way too stiff. Might work for big radius bends but could be a problem if you have aero levers and have to have a tighter bend below the stem as they come out of the handlebar tape. I was also concerned that the stiffness might eventually put too much strain and damage the first top tube cable guide behind the headset, which will have to take the stress for the casing trying to flex when you move steer the bars......

Lets check the economics. OK, I flip a lot of bikes. Walmart parts and consumables cost 2X to 3X what I can get them for on line. And the Walmart parts are inferior (steel cables into unlined housings, vs stainless steel cables, into lined housing, for less money). The one exception is on name brand freewheels and cassettes. Sometimes they have them on Walmart.com shipped to store free, for less than I can buy them for on line. But this comes and goes. Right now, the only thing they have are 8 speed cassettes (11/32) that I do not use.
I have no interest in doubling or tripling my cost of consumables.
Chain at Niagara: less than $4.50 for 5/6 speed, less than $5.50 for the seven speed stuff. Lined housing, in the color of your choice, less than $10.50 for a 50 foot roll, black bar tape for $4.25, free shipping for orders $100 or more, etc.
Frankly, I don't understand why Walmart prices are so high.
On cables, I tend to buy them by the box (100 cables) on ebay. Shop around, and you will find deals on SS cables (but you got to buy a lot of them).

Early on in my flipping days, I tried the cables and housing from Wallmart and was horrified by the low quality. I immediately went back to Niagara to source all my flipping supplies, since they have consistently great prices on generic and bulk Jagwire housing, and on stainless cables.

I use the cable kits. The Bell tires, 26x1-3/8", are pretty resilent, and last well on my rough streets. I don't think that buying stuff at Walmart is any worse than any other store selling mostly Chinese stuff. Find a store that doesn't.

Slightly OT: There is a big-box chain in the midwest called (Blain's) Farm & Fleet, not to be confused with competing chain (Mills) Fleet Farm.
While I usually order chains through Niagara, Farm & Fleet has Schwinn branded 5/6 multispeed chains that I can use if I'm out, at $6.39 apiece and sometimes on a 15% off sale. Same for Schwinn branded ergo grips at $7.99 a pair and sometimes a 15% off sale. No Schwinn-branded stuff at Fleet Farm, though. I've checked.
