Yeah, it doesn't *sound* like a seatbag issue given the location, but all the wear I've ever seen on my shorts has been due to velcro from a seatbag rubbing on it. Definitely worth a double check.

yeah, you don't want cotton in your gloves either. I personally use synthetic gloves, but any of those materials will work well so long as you have a goretex layer on the outside.
